Dog sick after monthly meds? Can I give omeprazole for upset stomach?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Poodle | Male | neutered | 1 year old | 15 lbs

Jack took his monthly Interceptor yesterday and his monthly Simparica this morning. Today he wouldn’t eat breakfast or dinner and I can hear lots of tummy gurgling. Daycare told me he wasn’t much interested in playing and he seems lethargic. He has omeprazole for tummy upset, is it ok to give him a dose this close to his other meds?

The omeprazole should not interfere with the other meds. You can also do the following: Fast Jack for 12 hours and then put him on bland food for a day, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to regular food slowly. Should this not help or should Jack get lethargic, or get diarrhea or vomiting, he needs to see a veterinarian for an exam as there may be something more serious such as an infection going on
