Why is my puppy licking his neuter site after e-collar removal?

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 11 days old | 101 lbs

Pictures following up my questions: “I neutered my puppy on December 20th and the surgery site was completly healed. I removed his e collar today but he started to lick the site aggressively and it appears some redness. So I put the e collar again. I wanted to know why he did that even the site was completely healed, it was his skin. And he also does not like his e collar and I keep changing to new one because he destroys them.”

The skin looks perfectly healed. However it will take a few months before the internal stitches have dissolved. So I would still put en e-collar on Bell as long as he attempts to lick the incision.
