My pet refuses to eat unless handfed. How can I make them eat alone?

My pet eats only when handfed or spoonfed. How to make him to eat his food by himself? I tried not feed him by hand , i left his food to eat by himself but he stays for hours but wont eat. If i do that he starves but doesnt eat it. Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | 9.503 lbs

First I would recommend having your vet examine Simba to make sure that he is in good health and there is not a medical reason he prefers spoon feeding. If he is in good health it is probably safe to wait him out for several hours - he will eat when he's hungry enough. You could try putting some canned food in with his kibble to encourage him to eat as well.
