My rabbit was exposed to myxoma. Does exposure amount matter? Is there a vaccine?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

If a rabbit is exposed to a small amount of the myxoma virus, will it be affected the same as if it were exposed the traditional way? I was wondering if a vaccination could be used like the current flu shot vaccination.

The quantity exposed to is not a significant factor about this disease, as far as i am aware there is no vaccine for it in the US although the vaccine exist in Europe, it has not been approved in the US. here is a link that can help find some good advise regarding protecting your rabbit from this disease: https://rabbit.org/myxo/
