Why is my kitten constantly hungry and eating more than recommended?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 3 months and 17 days old | 5.73202 lbs

My kitten weighs 1.4 kg and his eating more than what's recommended on the hills dry food pack....he cries so much for food/he goes by the bowl constantly and he eats super fast is this normal? He got his dewormer today....recommended amount is 50g for his age and weight .... he is an indoor can but he sometimes eats bugs and flies that get in the house

Hello. It is difficult to regulate how much a growing young kitten will eat, generally we recommend just to free feed. Perhaps once the wormer has kicked in, he will do better. It is natural for kittens to catch *& eat bugs as this is part of their instinct to hunt. Instructions of bags of food are just suggestions so you can definitely adjust the amounts based on how much Ginger wants to eat. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
