My dog vomited Panacur C for hookworms. Vet closed, what to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 7 months and 14 days old | 38 lbs

Hello, my vet just prescribed my dog Panacur C for hookworms. I gave her the first does yesterday (3 grams with food - she weighs 27 pounds) and she vomited most of her food from the day approximately 6.5 hours after I gave her the medication. I'm not sure what to do and the vet office is not answering their phones today and are closed for New Year's tomorrow. Do you have any advice? Should I give her a smaller dose or break it up over two meals? Should I stop giving it to her altogether? Thanks

If it happened that long after eating, it may or may not have been associated with the medication. I would try it again today, and if she vomits again, then stop the medication until you can speak with your veterinarian. Either way, call your veterinarian once they are open as she may need an additional day of medication if she tolerates it.
