Dog has crate anxiety, chewing muzzle raw. How to calm and heal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 50 lbs

Hi, my dog is suffering from anxiety and is crying in his crate. He’s trying to paw and chew his way out. As a result, his muzzle is red and started to bleed. How can I help him be less anxious and how can I help his muzzle not to get hurt and heal.

For anxiety, I like Composure chews and Adaptil diffusers. If these don't help, there are prescription medications that you can discuss with your veterinarian. Making sure Lewis is getting plenty of exercise is also very important. https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/dog/dog-health-and-wellness/dog-calming-aids/comfort-zone-diffuser-with-dap-for-dogs
