My dog has an occasional cough and mucus in her throat. Is it serious?

In better words, her cough is not persistent. She does not cough if she runs around the house or plays. She coughed 1 time today & I hade no idea what she was doing & it was just 1 cough no back to back coughing. Is that worrisome? Other times she’d cough is if she was eating or drinking too fast. Dr said she had the heart & lungs of a puppy but mucus in her throat. The cold went away but now I think it’s back& I will take her to the dr. I think it's a good idea to get Precious checked out again if the coughing is returning. Sometimes it's an infection and other times it persistent inflammation. The doctor may recommend a medication to break up mucus and/or decrease inflammation. Until you get her into the vet, make her drinking water tepid and avoid excessive activity that will cause her to bark a lot of pant.
