My kitten's head shakes when tracking. Is this normal or concerning?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Longhair | Female | spayed | 3 months and 12 days old | 8 lbs

My kitten does an interesting thing with her head. When she follows something with her eyes she moves her head around and can't follow it well. I am just wondering if it is something she will grow out of or is it something to be concerned about?

She may have some mild cerebellar hypoplasia. I suggest you take her to your vet for an exam. I recommend you videotape her doing this behavior so you can show that video to your vet in case Cleo is not doing it during the exam. Here is a link to an article about CH in cats.
