My cat is losing hair on her lower half. Is it stress or fleas?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 lbs

My cat seems to be losing hair on her lower half. She’s around 9, probably a bit older. She’s pretty light weight aswell. She’s in a house with 3 other cats, but seems to be bullied by 3 other cats younger then her. I assume she’s losing hair from stress, but I don’t want it to get worse. Thanks lots!

I have two concerns with Myrtle. The hairloss in that area can be from fleas or stress. I would first put on flea prevention on all animals in the house and clean very well. If he goes away then it was fleas. The reason I mention fleas is because this is the area they usually are. On cats you won't always see them since cats groom so often. A lot of times on cats we only see these spots of hairloss. If it does not go away with flea prevention then I recommend feliway diffusers and talking to your veterinarian about medication.
