Reactive dog nail trims: Vet or groomer for anxious pups?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | 40 lbs

I have a reactive dog. She can be selective with people, the times I have taken her to the vet she’s been ok with the handlers there. But she’s goes crazy when she sees other dogs. Ive always done her grooming myself, but she doesn’t let me do her nails. I want to take her to a groomer to get them done but I’m also considering just taking her to a vet for nail trims because I think it would be easier perhaps. which choice seems like the best route ?

If she has been well behaved at the vets previously then your vet tech should be able to do them for you. Either way, be sure to contact the clinic or groomer for an appointment at a quiet time so she does not have to meet other dogs for everyones comfort and safety
