Why is my dog's bark changing, quiet, or sounding painful? Is he sick?

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | 59.5248 lbs

i have a labrador, age about 7-8years. weight 27kgs. I have observed change in his bark tone for 7 to8 days. now he is not barking at all. He barks with paining sound. Please help!

This could be due to a degeneration of the laryngeal nerve that is innervating the larynx being in charge of its movement (vocal chords included). Inflammation of this nerve and upper respiratory airways infection is possible as well. A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Antibiotics may be needed.
