Why is my guinea pig peeing blood but acting normal? Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Guinea Pig | Female | unspayed | 5 years and 1 month old | 3 lbs

My guinea pig has had this problem the past couple of days. It doesn’t seem to be completely in her urine, as the wet spots around it are clear, but there are blood spots found in the middle of her urine. Her behavior appears normal as does her eating and drinking habits. We are not currently at our home, so could possibly have been dealing with some stress.

Thanks for reaching out about Charmander and including a photo. The photo is suggestive of a urinary calculi (stone), urinary tract infection or uterine disease (possible cancer). A veterinary visit is needed as soon as possible. Good luck.
