Why does my orphaned kitten constantly groom my ears and other cats'?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 2 months and 8 days old

My 2 months old kitten has a habit of grooming my ears and my other cat’s ears, I am wondering why is he so fond of ears? He has been orphaned since he was around 2 weeks old and I am the one that took care of him since then so I cannot imagine that it is a learned behaviour nor am I aware of another cat with that amount of fondness to ears.

This is likely just a behavior that Bosbos has developed. It may be anxiety driven or may just be a normal behavior for him. In any case, this will not cause any harm to Bosbos. You can always try Feliway pheromone diffuser / spray and see if this helps. Otherwise, if all else if normal and Bosbos is healthy, I would not worry about this behavior unless it is becoming a nuisance for you, then I would recommend talking with a veterinarian and having Bosbos examined so that the most appropriate medications can be prescribed. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
