Is it okay for a mother cat and her son to breed and get pregnant?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

So, my Siamese cat gave birth to four gorgeous kittens. They are now close to 8 weeks old, and we intend to give three of them, while keeping one, a male. I did some research, and, it seems like it doesn't matter to them if it's "incest", huh? Is it okay if both the mother and her son mate and she gets pregnant? No genetic issues, territory issue (the father onto the newborn kittens)? And so forth.. I'd love to have a clear answer about this matter, thanks!

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. You should NOT allow a male kitten to breed with his mother. This will perpetuate underlying genetic conditions, and Siamese cats already have enough genetic problems. I would recommend having either the mother spayed, the son neutered, or just get them both desexed. Best of luck with your little ones!
