My dog has a red, dark, growing skin spot. Why is it worsening?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 1 month old | 60 lbs

What is this??? I’ve asked about this before a few months ago, and the previous picture that was shown in my last question seemed to be healing. Now it’s just getting bigger, redder, and starting to show dark spots on it. STILL doesn’t seem to bug him at all, and is pretty wrinkly in that spot now. I am gonna get him into the vet ASAP, but I’d like to get an opinion on it first before I call. Please help!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Toby. Based on the location of the wound, it could be secondary to laying on a hard rough surface. Typically wounds start on pressure areas and then worsen over time. This could be the case as he appears thin and deep chested. Another possibility is irritation from am allergy. It he could be reacting to something in his diet or environment. I agree that he should see his veterinarian as he will need medications. I hope this information helps!
