My cat has bleeding mammary cancer. Can I use a human spray bandage?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 18 years and 11 months old

Hi there, our Cat Shu has advanced mamary cancer, she is however stil eating, drinking, using her litter and seeking affection and play. We've been managing her tumour with Isaderm gel and Meloxicam for pain. Her lesson has been bleeding a fair bit recently and isn't responding to the Isaderm well anymore. We are considering sealing the lesion with 3m Nexcare spray on bandage (for humans) in an attempt to minimize bleeding and give her a bit more time. Do you think this could help?

I'm very sorry Shu has mammary cancer. Unfortunately, no this won't help with the lesion, and she will likely just try to lick off the spray on bandage. It will contains ingredients that aren't safe for her to ingest, which makes it not ideal. I'd speak to her vet about this bleeding and what else can be done. Best of luck.
