Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | neutered | 1 year and 11 months old | 8 lbs
2 year old neutered black doll face Persian cat (Murphy). In good health otherwise has developed crusty rash around neck and head other than his face. Itchy, he’s obviously uncomfortable. No change in diet or environment. Second cat, Siamese (Lily) 18 months does not demonstrate any skin issues. Ideas please. Thank you Erin

This is probably caused by an allergic reaction. first of all make sure you de-flea Murphy regularly every month with a high quality spot on (ex. Advantage) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or cyclosporin in order to stop the allergy.
