Why are my cat and puppy both getting dry, hairless skin patches?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 3 months old | 8 lbs

My cat recently has some hairless patches and now my puppy does. There’s no bite marks or fluid or anything coming out of it. It’s just dry patches with no hair.

There is a good chance that both of your animals are suffering from ringworm or a similar skin condition. I recommend you take both to your veterinarian soon as this is contagious not only to other animals but also to people. Treatment for ringworm or other fungal diseases are antifungal shampoos and/or medication.
