My puppy's scrotum feels hard after neuter surgery. Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 4 days old | 101 lbs

I neutered my 8 months old puppy on December 20th and I am checking the surgery area everyday. Today I noticed that the scrotum area is harder than before. Is it normal?

It actually looks likes it is healing great. If the scrotum as painful and swollen I would have it checked out but if it is not painful, no fever, no discharge I would just watch him. It may seem firmer because it is shriveling up post surgery. The area looks great though! Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
