My dog drags her bottom and has a matted tail. Is it anal glands? Will spaying help?

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 1 month old | 25 lbs

So about once a month Cherokee will attach her tail and it will become matted and she becomes a little turd and rubbs her bottom and kinda army crawls on and dragges on the carpet. About this time(not every time) she goes to the groomer to get a bath and trim. The groomer does something and when she comes back it’s better. Will getting her fixed help with that?

It sounds like Cherokee has an anal gland issue. Your groomer most likely expresses them when she is there. I would recommend spaying her, while this may not stop the anal gland issues it will be healthier for her overall since her chance of a pyometra will be diminished. I would talk to your groomer and see if she is expressing her anal glands when Cherokee gets groomed and if so I would think about adding in a tsp of pumping into her food daily.
