Why is my quail having breathing problems and a swollen chest?

Question

My male Quail Shiro is having a hiccup like scenario... I see him do this when he is standing still but unsure otherwise. Expanding area is chest breast area. Will eat and is currently not drinking water for a bit. Will drink or eat when he feels like it. Pet's info: Bird | Chicken | Male

Thanks for reaching out about your quail. Gas in the crop can be an indication of an infection or impaction. Other respiratory infections (tracheal, lungs, air sac) can manifest as a respiratory disease and difficulty breathing.
