Senior dog's lump bleeding after grooming. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bichon Frise | Female | 11 years and 11 months old

Hi ! My dog is old and she has suffered with large tumours in the past that have been removed and now she only has a few small ones left that don’t grow any bigger! However when she gets groomed it seems to irritate the lumps and she has been biting at one on her back that has started to bleed and become sore where she won’t let us touch it! I’m just wondering should I keep applying disifectant and stop her from licking it or is there an infection and she needs to see a vet for an antibiotic?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Paris. I would clean the irritated bump with warm water. Then place an E-collar on her to prevent any further licking. If this does not help it to heal, then she will need to see her veterinarian. I hope this information helps!
