Will a wool blanket damage my dog's coat or cause hair issues?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 4 years old

If my dog sleeps on woolen blanket? will it cause harm to his hairs? He doesn't like to sleep on dog bed and i don't allow him to sleep on mine. So i have given his a rug carpet and a blanket. But my mom says that woolen is bad for their coat.

Woolen blankets can cause drying of the haircoat and subsequent pulling out of the hairs, but not always. If this is what he prefers you can try it out and see how things go. If it does cause some hair and skin issues, then I would stick with the softer bedding if possible. Thanks for visiting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Take care.
