My dog ate human food, breathing fast, can't move. Is it an emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 5 months and 13 days old | 35 lbs

My dog is a Great Pyrenees and Sharpei mix. Within the last couple of minutes, probably ten or so, she has been breathing rapidly and heavily nor can she move. It's Christmas so we gave her a lot of human food. I don't know if this could be a factor in her breathing or not. But I'd like some advice and help on what to do.

If you gave Honey a lot of human food, then yes this could contribute to it. It's not recommended to give dogs human food, as there are number of things that are toxic to them. It's quite serious she cannot move, and I think she needs to see a vet immediately. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck.
