Should I worry if my kittens drink tap water from sinks and floors?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 2 months and 6 days old

My kittens have a fascination with tap water and they seem to want to drink water in my kitchen’s sink and water on the bathroom’s floor. Should I be concerned? If yes, what can I do to prevent this behaviour other than locking them out? Note: make sure that atleast one filtered water bowl is always available for them throughout the apartment.

You have nothing to worry about, my cats are exactly the same, they will prefer every other option that seems to be fresher than their bowls, i tried a fountain bowl for a while but it never really replaced their need to drink from wherever they could.
