Why does my kitten foam at the mouth while grooming? What's the cause?

My neighbours 7 month old kitten foams at the mouth whilst grooming himself this has happened several times in the past week, what could be the cause?

There may be something on his coat that he is ingesting. That is the most common reason for cats to foam at the mouth - they do that when they taste something unpleasant. I suggest bathing him with a mild soap to see if that helps. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
