My puppy bit me. Am I at risk for rabies? When can I start training?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 14 days old | 53.7 lbs

My 52 days old pup is teething and I got superficial wounds from his bite and scratching. He had got 7 in 1 vaccination shot but yet has to get the rabies vaccination. Should I get a tetanus and anti rabies shot? I cleaned the would with an antiseptic. Also when can I start his training?

I don't think you have to worry about either disease at this stage however, it is always best to check with a human physician. By law, we really cannot recommend any treatment for human conditions. You can start training as early as 8 weeks of age. Hope this helps. Happy Holidays!
