Why won't my 11-week kitten eat cat food, only formula/sweets?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 13 days old

My kitten's 11 weeks old. He will not eat any kind of food. I have tried every flavor and brand, mixing it with cat milk, and he just refuses. He actually tries to cover it up. He drinks from his mama once or twice a day and I feed him formula all through the day. He loves any kind of white cake or cookie. He is all in my face when I have something sweet. I've raised lots of orphan kittys. Never had this kind of problem. I'm worried about him getting what he needs to grow. What should I do?

I would recommend to start weaning him off the formula and offering the cat food more and more. He is old enough to eat dry kitten food and he isn't getting what he needs with just the formula. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
