At what age should a healthy female husky cross be spayed. The rescue organization wants to spay her at months - I thought you were supposed to wait until after their first heat. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | 3 months and 15 days old | 10 lbs

Ideally spay can be done at 6 or 7 months of age. It can be done before the first heat but most of the time we ended up doing the operation after the first one. Surgery seems to have a preventive action against mammary gland tumors especially if performed before the first season.
