Pet's info: Bird | Cockatiel | Female | unspayed
My cockatiel used to be a chronic egg-layer, but we got her to stop. She hadn't laid an egg in two years -- but today, she had to go to the vet and have an egg collapsed and removed. We talked about hormone injections, but would like to avoid them if at all possible (financial reasons), so what are some tips for avoiding egg laying behavior in 'tiels? Thanks.

Remove any nest box or anything that could be used as a nesting box. Limit exposure to sunlight by using a dark cage cover in the late afternoon/early evening. These steps, in addition to decreasing room temperature by a few degrees may stop her from laying eggs.
