My puppy is not feeling well. What should I do to help him right now?

Vomiting, diarrhea and lethargy are quite concerning in any dog, especially puppies because of the diseases they can get such as parvovirus. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment. They would be able to check for this disease as well as checking for other possibilities such as intestinal worms or other infections. The sooner these diseases are diagnosed the better the outcome tends to be. At the very least, Gus can be started on anti-nausea and anti-diarrhea medications and his hydration status can be checked. Parvo, a virus that primarily attacks the immune system and intestines of dogs and is very lethal if left without supportive care. 2. Intestinal parasites which can cause intestinal blockage and even anemia (depletion of red blood cells). 3. Other viruses with varying severities. This is not an exhaustive list, just the most common things for a puppy. They will all lead to dehydration and other secondary issues which can all be severe enough to cause death. Whatever the underlying disease, he looks very ill and needs attention from a veterinarian immediately. I would recommend taking him to your nearest emergency veterinary hospital as soon as possible. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor baby! Can you find out the name of the 80mg little blue pill? And ask if he became sick AFTER they gave it? Unfortunately the puppy needs to see a vet for an exam. I would call a local SPCA or see if your Vet has a "rainy day" type fund from anonymous donors to help people with pet care costs. Possible causes are: intestinal parasites, foreign body ingestion (needs surgery to remove something stuck), from this blue pill or toxin, parvo virus or other viral or bacterial infection, food allergy or food intolerance or a genetic problem. I would try feeding him small frequent meals of a bland diet and call your local SPCA to see if they have a low cost Veterinary clinic. I hope this helps and I wish the puppy the best!

Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. It sounds like Joplin is very very sick. She might have a condition called "Parvovirus" which is a very serious virus that affects puppies, and is more likely if Joplin is unvaccinated. The other possible causes in a puppy include an obstruction in her gut (a blockage from a foreign object (ex. ball) that she ate, or an intussusception (the intestines telescoping in on each other). Also, depending on her age, pyometra is possible along with many other conditions. With what you are describing, I am very concerned that she could die without aggressive care. I strongly recommend you get Joplin to a vet right away, and if your vet is closed go to your closest emergency clinic. They will recommend a test of her poop, as well as possible bloodwork and x-rays, and will likely want to keep her in hospital on IV fluids and medications.
