Hello. You can introduce the puppy food now. I recommend to start weaning at 3 weeks of age, so you are pretty much on tract for this. Vaccinations start at 7-8 weeks of age. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

At four weeks old your puppy would start to be weaned by his mother so I recommend to introduce canned puppy food and puppy kibble that is soaked in formula. Ideally this is puppy formula and not cows or goats milk. Royal Canin makes a food for puppies this age called baby dog or starter puppy. Take a look at the package and it will tell you the age at which to use the food. Most puppies are weaned by the time they are 6 to 7 weeks of age. Vaccines start between 6 to 8 weeks of age. You will need to ask your human physician if any vaccines are recommended. I hope this is helpful and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
