When should my puppy start solid food and get their first shots?

When can I start introducing wey puppy food to puppies? They will be a month old next week? Also when do we give them the first set of shots?

Hello. You can introduce the puppy food now. I recommend to start weaning at 3 weeks of age, so you are pretty much on tract for this. Vaccinations start at 7-8 weeks of age. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

At four weeks old your puppy would start to be weaned by his mother so I recommend to introduce canned puppy food and puppy kibble that is soaked in formula. Ideally this is puppy formula and not cows or goats milk. Royal Canin makes a food for puppies this age called baby dog or starter puppy. Take a look at the package and it will tell you the age at which to use the food. Most puppies are weaned by the time they are 6 to 7 weeks of age. Vaccines start between 6 to 8 weeks of age. Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. It looks like you have a new puppy. Congratulations. I would recommend feeding a good quality puppy food (dry biscuits mixed with wet canned food), about 4 times a day. He should be vaccinated at 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 16 weeks of age. I would keep him inside and away from other dogs until he is fully vaccinated. Best of luck with Jack.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! The puppy looks like a Labrador Retriever. You can take the puppy to the vet now to be dewormed and a physical done. Bring a stool sample. We start vaccines at 6 weeks with the DHPP vaccine (distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza and parvovirus). We give that vaccine every 3 weeks until 14-16 weeks. The Rabies vaccine is given based on your countries laws. In the US that is between 12-16 weeks. I recommend feeding a commercial puppy food like Purina puppy chow. Dry food is fine. Use the bag as a guideline then increase or decrease the amount based on how the puppy grows. Dogs are fine being solo pets. Congratulations on your puppy!

So we had a puppy in a dog with mother right away and had one puppy the puppy survive is 4 weeks old and we've been feeding it formally we was wondering if it can go outside and went to get its shots and all the necessary things about the puppy stuff
Hello. The best thing you can do for the puppy is have her examined by a veterinarian now who will check her overall health & check her for intestinal & external parasites. If anything is found, she will be treated appropriately. Vaccinations start at 6-8 weeks & continue every 3-4 weeks until she is 16 weeks of age. Then she will receive booster vaccinations one year later. Spaying, so she does not have unwanted litters, should be done before her first heat cycle or before she is 6-8 months old. What’s good to feed a 3 week old puppy?
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! 3 weeks is young. I’d recommend a puppy milk replacer and bottle feeding for another week or 2. Then mix the puppy milk replacer in with canned puppy food and gradually add dry food over a couple of weeks. I like Purina proplan orhl’s puppy foods. Good luck!

My puppy is 12weeks and he had his duramune max 5 vaccine at 6 weeks when is his next set of shot due?
Puppies are typically vaccinated every 3-4 weeks until they are 16 weeks of age. I would make an appointment to have a vaccination done and then repeat a vaccine in 3-4 weeks. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.

I should be getting a puppy today she is 5 weeks old. Is it okay to bring puppy home away from mother and litter and no vaccines? Puppy is on wet food. There will be no dogs around.
HI, thanks for using Boop by Petco! 5 weeks is a bit young to leave her mother but if she is fully weaned it should be ok. We usually do not start vaccines until they are 7 weeks of age. Some breeders will give them a parvo vaccine at under 7 weeks. You should be fine until she gets her first vaccine but people with sick dogs or unvaccinated dogs shouldn't handle her and she needs to be kept away from all dogs. I hope this helps and good luck!

Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your question. First off, vaccinations are extremely important! Vaccinations typically begin at 6-8 weeks of age and are given every 3 weeks until the puppy reaches 16-20 weeks of age. Heartworm and flea / tick prevention are important as well. I would also recommend having Jimmy's poop checked for parasites and put him through a round of deworming medication. Establish yourself with a veterinarian so that you can get all of this for Jimmy and have a veterinarian available for getting all of this done. As for food, feed a puppy food. Congrats on your new addition! Ideally, she should be physically examined by your veterinarian within 3 days of arriving home to confirm good health or to diagnose and treat any preexisting conditions. At the very least, she will likely need to be dewormed. Vaccines can start around 6 weeks of age and will continue every 4 weeks until about 16 weeks of age. Discuss monthly parasite prevention with your vet to protect against worms, fleas, ticks and heartworm. Feed a good quality puppy food. Look for brands such as Canidae, Acana or Merrick. You can feed according tot the directions on the bag, just know that each puppy is different and you may need to adjust the amount if Coqueta is gaining too much weight or not enough weight. Avoid store or discount brands as these may contain low quality ingredients and more fillers. Puppies typically need to go about about 20-30 minutes after eating, sleeping or playing.
