My molting bird has diarrhea and eats less. Should I still see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Cockatiel | Female | unspayed

She is molting ATM. Last year late November, Gacy stopped eating as much as usual. This year, starting about December 14? the same started again. She started having diarrhea on 15th which continued until yesterday where it became only an occasional maybe once a day thing. She is still eating less than usual & today was sleeping rocking herself back and forth on her perch. She would not eat her favorite treat then, but does now. Should we still see the vet even if the diarrhea is better?

If she is molting, this can be very stressful on the body which could show up as not feeling well or the diarrhea, however if the problem persists for more than a day or so, worsens, or she seems to be acting differently than her molt last year, a vet checkup is best to rule out any other issues such as parasites, infections, etc, that could be causing the change.
