My cat has a new patch on his ear, head, and neck. What happened?

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 7 years and 7 months old | 21 lbs

He was left in the bathroom For half an hour and I went to go check on him and this was on him I just got home from work and I see a patch on his era going down his head in the back of his neck

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This was probably due to a traumatic injury of some sort. I would recommend that you check in with a veterinarian who can take a closer look and recommend therapy accordingly. If there is not an actual wound then the recommendation may be just monitoring for now. Best of luck!
