My dog was hit by car, seems fine but won't wag tail. Is she injured?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | unspayed | 11 months and 20 days old | 65 lbs

My dog was hit by a car a couple days ago she seems to be walking fine afterwards no swelling no bleeding just a couple scrapes she’s eating fine she’s acting normal she has not wagged her tail or run since. Her personality has not been the same since I’m sure that’s a given But what should I do to make my poor baby feel better

Hello. I am very concerned that Lexi may be more injured than you believe. Reluctance to wag her tail or run suggest a possible fractured pelvis. She may not require much in the way of therapy or surgery, but she should be examined ASAP to see if she needs pain or anti-inflammatory medication ( which she probably does ), & what is the best care she needs to recover & not have any problems in the future. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
