My senior Cane Corso has a firm lump and leaking sores. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | unneutered | 10 years and 7 months old | 140 lbs

I have a few concerns about my brothers pet. He seems to have a lump perhaps the size of 2 golf balls. He has open sores or abscess not sure what they are however they leak bloody puss and he’s constantly cleaning them up. He’s 9 years old Cane corso mastiff mix. The open side is on his back leg. The second pic is of his upper neck area under the mouth. The last picture is of the lump it’s kind of difficult to get a good pic of it. The lump feels rather firm and does not have any leaks

I highly recommend taking Rugal to a veterinarian. Those lumps look infected and he may need antibiotics. It also looks like he has chronic allergies with the one picture with how his skin is darkened and has a thickened appearance (obviously I can't tell 100% without actually examining him). He also needs a nail trim as his nails are extremely long. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
