Why is my dog with kidney disease gaining weight on renal diet?

Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Female | spayed | 8 years and 1 month old | 115 lbs

Kidney disease dog on renal support diet, she eats only 1 cup twice a day along with her meds and is gaining so much weight. is it diet?

Weight loss is more common in kidney patients but i would be concerned she may be retaining fluid causing bloating or swelling. Please have her rechecked by your vet, they can advise on amount to be fed also, excessive diet restriction can prevent weight loss also as the body trys to retain as much nutrition as possible
