Cat ate old fish, now vomiting/diarrhea. Is it heat or food poisoning?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3 years and 11 months old | 9 lbs

Hi there, about 2 days ago my cat ate some fish that was sitting in her bowl overnight. She's now been vomitting (a couple times over the past 2 days) and has diarrhea, she's been fine otherwise, going outside at her usual time, snuggles, nibbling biscuits, doesn't seem in pain when I pick her up (around her belly). It's also been very hot lately, so I think it's a little heat stroke and eating that fish that's thrown her, but I'd like to know what you think. Thanks!

Both the fish and the heat could be bothering Koshka. I'd still take her into the vet today anyway to get checked out, it's always important to have a cat checked out when they are having both vomiting and diarrhea. Best of luck.
