Why does my dog limp after playing, especially when wearing a harness?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Brittany | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 7 months old | 44 lbs

Last week me and my dog, Brittany spaniel, 3 years old spent most of the weekend at the beach. We played with a ball, running, digging in the sand. In the evening he can't jump on the bed and he was cold. Next days we kept him warm and he began to jump and walk normally. Next weekend I decided to let him run a little, cause he was on a leash a whole week before, and in the evening I put his harness on (we use collar) and he began to limp and he can't walk.then I switched his collar and he was ok

This sounds like her has arthritis or a bulging disc in his back. I recommend leash walking only, no jumping and you should take him in for an exam and X-rays. He could benefit from pain medication and depending on the reason treatment with acupuncture or by a rehabilitation veterinarian could help prevent this happening in the future.
