What causes young guinea pigs to make choking or gasping sounds?

Pet's info: Small Animal | Guinea Pig | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 4 months old | 1lb

Some times more than often my guinea pigs start a choking noise and it happens when I buy them and from ages 0-3 years old. It aleays stops after they reach that age.

Thanks for reaching out about Isabel. Not sure if an answer can be provided with the information given. Inflammatory responses from exposure to bedding, other inhalants, exposure to dogs (possible bordatella) or other possibilities. Good luck.
