Puppy recovering from parvo: not drinking water, continue Nutrical?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltipoo | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 21 days old | 2.8 lbs

We just brought our 7 week old Maltopoo Pipwr lhome from the hospital after surviving parvo. She is eating boiled chicken with rice and broth and peeing and has had 2 normal bowel movements in less then 24 hours. My concern is she won't drink much water (is drinking broth, just the water I boiled the chicken in) Also, should I continue syringe feeding her the Nutrical our vet sent me home with?

Absolutely should you feed the nutrical. It aids recuperation and healing. Make her food soupier, so she drinks a bit more broth. Piper likely has a lot of hydration from being on an iv, and may not be so thirsty yet. Keep up feeding her bland food , the broth, and the nutrical. Parvo is a severe illness and it will take a few weeks before your puppy is 100% again.
