Can fluids help my cat with early kidney disease slow progression?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 18 years and 11 months old | 9.5 lbs

Hi do you think tony could benefit now from fluids, in early stages of kidney disease? could it slow down the progression? His current renal values are phosphorus 4.0 ,SDMA 18,creatinine 1.9, BUN 37, no protein loss in urine but not concentrating as well as a few months ago. Thx!!

No, i don't think fluid therapy is necessary at the moment but if he isn't on wet prescription food for kidney disease already then i would definitely recommend trying to switch him to such a diet, he can definitely benefit from that.
