Cat has bloody, mushy stool and painful rectum. Is it worms?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | unneutered | | 2.4 lbs

Hello doc, I consulted my cat. She's "pup" is white, mushy and there is fresh blood at the end of the bowel ... besides that, her rectum is reddish and the cat looks in pain when I try to clean it ... Previously the cat was diarrhea and she was taken to the pet clinic and get a medication, but after it, another complaints arise. The question is whether the cat has hemorrhoids or worms? What should i do beside take her to pet clinic again?

I can’t tell from the photo if those are worms but I do think you need to take Muezza back to the vet and make sure to take with you a sample of her stool and those yellowish looking things in her stool. I agree that she is inflamed and I do agree that she would be in pain. The blood indicates that her bowels are very inflamed. Parasites will certainly cause inflammation, but so can infection, food allergy and cancer. Bloody stool can also be a sign of disease of her internal organs. It’s important to not only treat the symptoms but start to figure out the cause. Make sure to have her tested for common parasites and even run blood work on her to make sure the organs are ok. The vet may recommend a special diet or even further diagnostics if they can’t figure out why this keeps happening. I hope this helps to point you in the right direction. Please post again with any further questions.
