Hello I have a 1 year old mini schnauzer (female ) she had upset stomach last week ( vomited twice & she had just been out of her heat ) she received two injections and didn’t get sick afterwards , she had been hiding under the couch and hadn’t been much playful over the last few days so I took her to the vet again they ran blood tests both her CBC and liver & kidney functions came out good . She had just been very finicky about what she eats and her food presence changes on a daily basis..

I know she did not have diarrhea, but the treatment for an upset tummy is the same as I have described. The hormonal changes from coming out of heat can also make an upset tummy and can even make her picky. So fasting her will sort of reset the digestive system by calming it, will also make her hungry and then feeding her bland food should also help with then starting regular or a new food again. I think this just may work.

I would try this: I would fast her for 24 hours and then put the dog on bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to regular food slowly over a few days. If this does not clear up the diarrhea or if the vomiting increases, or if your dog gets lethargic, it needs to see a veterinarian for an exam as there may be something more serious such as an infection going on.
