My dog has bumps or flaps on her lip. Are they normal or serious?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 years and 10 months old | 4 lbs

Is this something I should be concerned about? I thought these were bumps but maybe it’s just flaps of her lip? I can “lay” them down (as in it’s manipulative) & it just feels like her normal lip. She lets me touch them with no problem. I just don’t think I’ve noticed it before. She was running around with a hard ball in her mouth this morning & eats fine so I know she’s not in pain. She also recently had check up, bloodwork, Ua & t4 done. Everything was good. This just scares me

These look like areas of inflammation, if they persist longer than 3 weeks I would recommend getting them checked by your vet who may want to take scrapings or biopsies to rule out any sinister causes

    HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I wouldn't say it is normal but it likely isn't serious. It could be an abrasion from hitting/rubbing his lip on something, an insect bite, the start of an infection or an immune issue. If he isn't bothered by it I would watch it for a bit. If it goes away then it was likely trauma. If it gets wore or persists for more than 2 weeks I would have him seen by your Vet. Good luck!

I have better pictures now but are these bump like things normal? Like could they be the normal ridge-like things on her lips? These are located under her top lip. Doesn’t hurt her & I can “lay” them flat & can be manipulated like the other ridges. T
It's still a little hard to see these things well, but I did not say they look normal. They could be thickening from chronic inflammation, something like a wart or something more worrisome. A vet should take a look at those and check then further.

Hello I just got a new Cane Corso puppy and he has two white pustule looking things on his lip they are on both sides same spot. What are they? im so scared it’s something horrible!!!
No need to worry too much yet. In such a young dog it is highly improbable that anything too terrible is wrong. In all honestly, it is very hard to make a diagnosis of dermatologic issues without actually feel the lesion, and / or collecting some diagnostic samples. At first glance, they look like eosinophilic plaques (otherwise known as rodent ulcers), which are actually much more commonly seen in cats. Since you are seeing these lesions on both sides of the mouth, it's also possible that this is something anomalous but normal in your dog. Another possibility is that your pup could have bit onto something that cause some irritation, and it is now causing something wrong symmetrically. If the areas aren't getting large and are not bothering your dog, my advise would be to leave things alone for the time being to see if there is any change. However, it wouldn't be wrong to take your dog to the vet now to have him checked over. Hope this makes sense!

My dog has a white- wart like growth on the side of his bottom lip. It seems to be getting bigger- should I take him in or is it harmless?
Since it is not possible to diagnose a malignancy or a benign mass just from a photo I strongly suggest you have this examined by your vet. Unfortunately tumors on the lips and in the mouth often are malignant, and the earlier they are caught and removed the better the prognosis. The way this looks it could be anything from a tick to a wart to a tumor.

I have a small, 16 year old, pomeranian and jack russell mix. She is about 12 lbs. Recently, she developed a red mass on the edge of her upper inside lip. She doesn't seem to be hurting by it and she eats and plays fine still. Her food and water dish
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This could be a benign or malignant growth. There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point. I recommend you have Panda evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good day!

Hello, I recently noticed my dog has bumps around her mouth and I’m curious on to what they are, why they are there, and what I need to do for her.. I’ll attach photos below
These look like juvenile warts (oral papilloma). Such warts are caused by a virus, they are self-limiting and and will go away by themselves eventually within a few months. They will need veterinary attention if they increase significantly in size or amount or start bleeding, get infected, or cause other problems.

I found two lumps on the inner lip of my puppies upper lips. I’m not sure if it’s normal or not (may be glands) but I thought I would check. One is bigger than the other.
It's not normal. it is probably a viral tumor called papilloma, it is not considered to be life threatening and it usually takes several months to a year to resolve without treatment, a treatment with a special antibiotic called Zhitromax helps in some cases. i would recommend taking Langley to the vet ASAP in order to get it checked.

My dog hasn't bumps all over her and there's a bump on the side of her mouth
These bumps look like benign adenomas but without doing a cytology I cannot say for sure that they are benign. There are other types of masses that could look similar like histiocytomas (benign) and mast cell tumor (malignant). Watch them closely - if they grow, change, or if she is bothered by them, I would recommend to see your vet so they can look under the microscope to see what type of tumors they are. My 2 y/o dog (mix) has a gray-colored growth on her left lower lip. It looks a bit like a barnacle--it's round, but the top part (furthest away from her lip) is open, like a barnacle. It could look like it was enclosed and burst; the edges look jagge
This is quite a strange looking growth. I feel it is likely a papilloma which has become devitilised and died off hence the pale colour. However it is impossible to know the origin of a mass just by visual inspection alone. To be safe I would have this lump removed and submitted for testing at the lab to know exactly what it is.

Nashville has these 2 whitebumps on her tongue. We first noticed them because they’re rough, so we looked and saw them. Should we be concerned? She doesn’t seem uncomfortable. Photo attached.
These are likely oral warts, canine oral papillomas. These are small, benign tumors of the mouth caused by the papilloma virus which typically develop on the lips, tongue, throat or gums. These are caused by a virus. Typically, it takes 1-5 months for papillomas to regress without treatment. Should they grow very big or start to bleed, they can be surgically removed or frozen off. You will need to schedule an appointment with your veterinarian for an exam to rule out other tumors or infections.

He's had this smallish ulcer inside his mouth since he was about 4 months old. He doesn't mind if I touch it and he eats perfectly fine. When i told the vet it was brushed off but I'm still concerned because it's been there so long! This is the best
Unfortunately this picture is just too blurry to speculate on what this is. However it is in the general vicinity of where the dogs anatomical incisive papilla is located. The incisive papilla is abnormal anatomical finding that is sort of bumpy (not ulcerated as you described) and aids the dog in smell.
