Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 11 years and 8 months old | 11 lbs
My dog Foxy just had surgery to remove a pyometra and while they were in there they removed a foreign object from her stomach that turned out to be a ball of hair ties that she had eaten over a span of time. I know that surgery on the stomach can be risky so I want to know if there are any signs I should be on the look out for. Like how will I know if the stitches in her stomach open up for some reason?

Hello. Most of these surgeries heal without any problems, but if Foxy were to stop eating &/or start vomiting food & water, this is of great concern & she should be examined quickly. Her incisions should heal over the next 10-14 days, so once you get out past this point in time, you can relax. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
