My cat isn't pooping after starting a raw diet. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | spayed | 3 years and 1 month old | 11 lbs

I have a 3 year old Siamese cat. on Saturday 12/8, I started chnging her diet from a dry kibble (Taste of the Wild Rocky Mountain) to a raw diet (Primal chicket and salmon formula) . By Wednesday 12/13 we had made the complete transfer away from Kibble to the raw food. At this time, my cat still has not pooped. I am concerned. What should i do?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is not uncommon for cats to not defecate as readily after starting a raw diet which is low in fiber. You can add 1 teaspoon of canned pumpkin to her meals which may help with constipation. Best of luck!
