My old dog is whining and extra cuddly. How can I comfort him?

Herbie is not acting normal he is cuddly more and he is whining more and he is getting old and we can't see the vet until Dec 17th. And its making me scared and he has been doing this since Nov.23rd aka turkey day and its only getting worse is there any way I can keep him. Comfortable until then ? He also has been diagnosed with dimentia and has epilepsy. Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Male | unneutered | 11 years and 8 months old | 16 lbs

The behavior changes you describe could be a sign of pain somewhere or a number of other problems - sometimes it’s difficult to say what might be wrong when signs are relatively vague. Abnormal behavior and whining does not necessarily sound like an urgent problem to me unless he is showing other signs of illness as well. If you are very concerned or if Herbie has had other symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite, coughing or a change in urination you could see if you can move up your appointment with your vet.
