How warm should a room be for newborn kittens and are other cats safe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Himalayan | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 7 months old

She gave birth to 4 lovely kittens, all look like their father surprisingly, none like her, father must have stronger genes. My question and given it’s winter what a suitable temperature to keep the room at for mother and kittens ? Once done feeding she hangs out with the other cats. And uses their litter though I had another one near her with her scent. Is it safe to move the kittens with the other cats so that all be together ? I’m not sure how they react or if they might hurt the new borns!

Newborn kittens cannot regulate their body temperature, so the room they are kept in must be quite warm, between 88-92F. Keep them completely separate from the other cats, mother cats can be very protective of their kittens, and she may attack the other cats if they come to investigate the kittens. Best of luck.
